A treasure-trove nestled in the heart of Corrales
Galeria de Corrales was started in 2009 by Sylvia Gormley because she felt Corrales would be a great venue for a cooperative art gallery. Original members included: Sylvia Gormley, Cathy Gormley, Rick Snow, Max Bloom, and Sandy Tanner. The goal of the gallery is to showcase a variety of local artists and give them a venue in which to show their work. There are painters in oil, acrylic and watercolor, potters, and photographers represented. We also have a digital artist, a quilter, a fused glass artist and an art doll maker, not to mention some wonderful jewelers!
To be included in a cooperative art gallery, an artist must submit an application and examples of her work. The current members vote on whether or not the art is up to the standards of the gallery. Once invited to join, each member contributes to the running of the gallery. We all take turns “sitting the gallery” when it is open. Hours are from 10 am to 5 pm, Wednesday through Saturday and 10 am to 2 pm Sundays in the summer.
